Christian Education Ministry Team
The Christian Education Ministry Team develops, plans and implements the various educational programs of the congregation, from nursery age through adults. These programs include Sunday School for all ages, Vacation Bible School, summer programs, Bible Studies and special projects. The team maintains a library of written and audio-visual resources and provides Our Daily Bread devotional resources.
The team also produces Advent and Lenten devotional booklets prepared by congregation members.
Sunday School: 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. between worship services
Sunday School for all ages is offered September through June for children, youth and adults. Special education programs are offered each summer. Vacation Bible School is offered for one week each summer.
St. Michael Preschool and Before and After Care
The preschool is reached at 757 689-2629. The preschool operates daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offers various preschool classes and enrichment opportunities for children ages 2 ½ to 5, along with before and after school care, summer camp, enrichment programs and other special programs. A Thursday evening Bible Study from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. is conducted by the Pastor and focuses on the study of books of the Bible. A woman’s Bible Study is held Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with fellowship over lunch once a month at a local restaurant. The woman’s study covers topical studies from the Bible or a book from the Bible. An adult Bible Study is held weekly during the Sunday school hour. A men’s Bible Study meets Thursday mornings from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at an offsite café. Numerous small group Bible Studies are held in the homes of members.
Confirmation classes are offered to seventh graders and older. Confirmation is a series of classes and overnight retreats held on weekends from September to May. Classes are held in church facilities and at off site locations. Confirmation is a two-year program led and facilities by the pastors with lay leader assistance.
Vacation Bible School is offered for one week each summer and features an annual theme. VBS begins with dinner for all participants and features various Bible Studies, crafts, and fellowship and enrichment opportunities for children of all ages. Nursery care is provided.
LCF – Lutheran Children’s Fellowship (1st to 5th graders) meets once a month at the church and occasionally for an off site event. The 5th graders, joined by the 6th graders, attend a Virginia Synod Retreat in Lynchburg in March called “7th Day”.
LMF – Lutheran Middler’s Fellowship (6th to 8th graders) meets once a month on a Friday evening for “Game Night” held at the home of the youth leader from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The 6th graders participate in the “7th Day Retreat”. In November the 7th and 8th graders attend the Virginia Synod retreat “Lost and Found”. The youth also collect aluminum cans for recycling.
LYF – Lutheran Youth Fellowship (9th to 12th graders) meets for a various activities throughout the month and assists as counselors with LCF. The high school youth attend the Synod retreat “Winter Celebration” in Lynchburg in January. LYF also assist with the recycling program.
Boy Scouts
Boy Scout Troop 14 meets Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. throughout the year. Patrol Leader Council meets once a month on Tuesday on the third Tuesday and a Committee meeting for adult members is the third Monday of each month.

A Brownie Troop meets Friday evenings from 6:30p to 7:30p
